Government policy actively encourages the involvement of service users in the development and delivery and evaluation of local services to improve service user and carer experience of services and to make services more responsive to local needs.
This is what Cambridge and Peterborough Mental Health NHS Trust has to say about service user involvement:
“The Trust is developing a new service user involvement strategy. Through its implementation we aim to give service users and carers more say so that our services have a positive impact on their lives and help to promote recovery. By involving service users and carers in improving our services we hope to provide responsive services that meet local need.” (April 2008)
Some of the campaign work that SCUF carries out is to ensure that the local statutory services effectively honour their commitment to service user involvement in the development, delivery and evaluation.
Via this webpage and at monthly meetings SCUF members will be informed about opportunities for involvement in local statutory sector development, delivery and evaluation. Examples of involvement opportunities are: giving feedback via surveys and questionnaires, taking part in focus groups or research projects and taking part in consultation events as part of audits of services. |
